Dysfunctions in the human musculoskeletal system can cause a number of discomforts.
Changes caused by natural aging processes, diseases or accidents impair the smooth running functions of this complex system.
The operative and therapeutic treatment and reconstruction of these musculoskeletal components describe the special field in which Prof. Dr. med. Augustin Betz works.
This field includes stability and static of bones as well as frictionless gliding of cartilaginous articular surfaces.
 
First and foremost the reconstruction of structures is in question with own body tissue, such as bone substance, thereby providing a ‚biological prosthesis’. In case the conditions for this are not given, an artificial prosthesis must be applied. Examples are artificial knee and hip joints. In individual cases Prof. Dr. med.
